In the style of a South African freedom song.Easy choral writing and a narrator soloist provide an uplifting experience. The words may be altered to suit the occasion, be it Christmas or a special celebration. The music builds to a dramatic climax. Wonderful way to close a program.

Little Mass for Men's Voices
David V. Montoya
A piece to challenge and refresh the more advanced male ensemble. The counter-tenor solo rides above the four lower parts. Melodic writing in all parts combine to create pleasing and sometimes striking contemporary harmonies. The result: an extraordinary piece for the male choir.

Lord's Prayer, The

Melodist Childs has created a beautiful setting of the prayer. Elegant in its simplicity, it is mostly in unison, - there is some divisi in each part.

On Christmas Night

The Sussex Carol from England with a lilting, sometimes bell-like accompaniment. All parts get a turn at the famous melody.

The piece features the men for two-thirds of the piece, and ends with women joining in, doubling them at the octave. Peter Eklund has performed this successfully with men alone. This Train

Wade in the Water
Traditional Spiritual - arr. Nina Gilbert
The tuba opens this setting with a simple rendition of the melody. Later as the piece progresses and the choral writing gets more involved, the tuba is there to help build the drama.
