Philip is a composer for film, television, interactive media and theater. He was born and raised in Madrid, Spain, where he began studying music by way of classical and Flamenco guitar. He graduated with dual degrees in Drama and Composition from Tufts University and the New England Conservatory of Music. In 2005 he graduated from the USC Scoring for Motion Pictures and Television program and was named semi-finalist in the Turner Classic Movies Young Film Composer Competition.
His recent film credits include the psychological thriller The Somnambulist, the feature-length documentary Speak, The Keeper and Against the Dark, both starring Steven Seagal. He writes additional music for the television series Supernatural (CW), Dallas (TNT), Golden Boy (CBS) and also wrote for the ABC series The Deep End. His other additional music credits include Identity Thief, Thanks for Sharing, HOP, the documentary feature Harmony (with music by Academy Award winner Dave Grusin and narrated by HRH The Prince of Wales), Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore, the French horror thriller La Horde, Lemonade Mouth, Disaster Movie and the animated feature Sharkbait. He also produced the scores to Adam, Marmaduke, Alvin and the Chipmunks, The Perfect Holiday (starring Queen Latifah) and The Comebacks. Philip co-composed the music to the videogame James Bond: Quantum of Solace (Activision) with Christopher Lennertz, as well as The SIMS 3: Pets Expansion Pack (EA). He also produced the scores to several major interactive titles, including The Simpsons Game, The Godfather 2, Red Alert 3, SimsAnimals: Africa (EA) and Warhawk (Sony). In addition, Philip collaborated with renowned Cuban jazz legend Arturo Sandoval as part of Christopher Lennertz's Symphony of Hope: The Haiti Project.
Most recently, Philip's choral piece, On this Side of the Window, received its world premiere by the Angel City Chorale, alongside works by John Williams, Morten Lauridsen, David O and Christopher Tin. His music was performed live in concert at the 7th International Film Music Festival in Úbeda, Spain, in the summer of 2011, and the Sundance Institute named him a fellow in the 2012 Feature Film Composers Lab.
