Big Easy on My Mind
Melinda Bargreen (music and lyrics)
Written as a tribute to the special heritage of New Orleans, the blues come alive in this piece. All proceeds from the sale of the piece will go to the Katrina Hurricane Fund.
BIG EASY ON MY MIND
I've got the Big Easy on my mind,
Can't seem to leave New Orleans behind.
I want to grab a beignet
And a cafe au lait,
Kick back and watch the river unwind.
I want to sing the blues with my kin,
And feel that hot, wet air on my skin,
Talk that soft, smooth talk
Walk that hip-swaying walk,
Let the warm delta welcome seep in.
When the city falls on hard times,
That's when I most want to be there.
That proud old gal may be down and out,
But to me she's the fairest of the fair.
I've got the Big Easy in my soul,
I want to let those good times roll,
Hear me some jazz,
Like no one else has,
It makes my spirit feel whole:
New Orleans on my mind.

Love’s Springtide
by Frank Dempster Sherman, American, 1860-1916
My heart was winter-bound until
I heard you sing;
O voice of Love, hush not, but fill
My life with Spring!
My hopes were homeless things before
I saw your eyes;
O smile of Love, close not the door
To paradise!
My dreams were bitter once, and then
I found them bliss;
O lips of Love, give me again
Your rose to kiss!

Is ours alone;

Gloria
Debra Lynn
GLORIA was composed for choirs with substantially fewer male than female members. The piece presents opportunities for choirs to gain a sense of accomplishment and understanding:Themes are anticipated in the accompaniment making pitches easier to find and changes in patterns easier to remember.Short a cappella sections help give singers a sense of accomplishment and offer an effective ghance in texture for listeners.The use of polyphony makes all parts important; unison singing adds to the strength of the piece.

Go, Lovely Rose
David V. Montoya
The composer has taken a new approach to this oft-set poem using an ostinato style piano accompaniment to set an ethereal mood at the beginning. As verse two of the text gets more dramatic, the piano works as an art song accompaniment and helps to build this drama, finally returning to the repose and tenderness of the beginning theme. A beautiful song, not difficult.

Haec Dies
Brant Adams
Haec Dies is joyful singing at its best. Brant Adams chooses 6/8 meter for its inherent dance quality, and to that he adds a flowing melodic and harmonic structure. The natural syllabic stress of the Latin is easily realized thanks to the composer's careful attention to text setting, and the overall ABA form makes for ease of teaching and memorization.
