Cielito Lindo Mexican folk song - arr. Barbara Harlow
A favorite in Mexico and also in the United States, this folk song is to be sung in the original Spanish. The piano accompaniment strives to imitate the upbeat, rhythmic sound of a mariachi band. An optional scoring for mariachi band accompaniment is available. Written in the treble clef, it was originally intended only for treble choir. Men's groups have discovered this piece and alerted us to it's successful use for their voicing when sung an octave lower than written. Also available for SATB.

The poem was written by a young pilot in 1941—it has been called the most famous aviation poem ever written.
Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth
