Gary Packwood

Gary Packwood is the Program Administrator, Director of Choral Activities, and Associate Professor at Mississippi State University, where he conducts three ensembles, teaches conducting and choral methods, and coordinates the music education area.
Choirs under his direction have been selected for performance at the state, regional, and national conferences of ACDA and NAfME conferences, performed at Carnegie Hall, The White House, and tour throughout the southeast United State and Europe. Dr. Packwood has conducted all-state and honor choirs in 28 states and is a frequent clinician and lecturer for various institutions and international festivals across the United States, South America, and Europe. A Lifetime member of ACDA, he is currently President of ACDA Southern Division, and in 2010 was elected President of ACDA Alabama. From 1992-2000, he led the choral program at William T. Dwyer Community High School in Palm Beach Gardens (FL).
Dr. Packwood has received numerous awards including the 2005 Outstanding Music Alumni Award from the Department of Music at Southeastern Louisiana University, 2008 Outstanding Faculty Member for the College of Fine Arts at the University of Montevallo, and in 2015 he received the Lucinda Rose Teaching Award for outstanding undergraduate teaching from the Dean of the College of Education at Mississippi State University.
Dr. Packwood earned the Bachelor of Music Education degree from Southeastern Louisiana University, the Master of Arts degree from Florida Atlantic University, and Doctorate of Musical Arts degree from Louisiana State University.
