 Seth Houston

Dr. Seth Houston is director of choral activities at the University of California, Irvine, where he conducts Concert Choir and Chamber Singers and teaches courses in musicianship. Prior to his appointment at UCI, Houston taught at Carroll University in Waukesha, Wisconsin. Houston holds a DMA degree in choral music from the University of Southern California, where he studied with Jo-Michael Scheibe, Morten Lauridsen, and Nick Strimple, as well as earlier degrees from the University of Colorado and Oberlin Conservatory of Music. A committed educator, Houston taught middle school and high school choir for nine years and directed youth ensembles with the Chicago Children’s Choir, Village Harmony, and Big Sky. Houston has presented research at national conferences of the College Music Society, National Collegiate Choral Organization, and American Brahms Society. His compositions and arrangements are widely performed throughout North America and Europe and have been included on numerous recordings.
