 R. Scott Coulter

Dr. Coulter (1925-1979) was Chairman of the Music Department, Director of Choral Activities, and Professor of theory and composition at California State University at Stanislaus in Turlock, California. He studied composition with Ingolf Dahl, Robert Linn, Karl Kohn, and Gail Kubik, and received his Masters of Music Degree in 1952 from the University of Pacific at Stockton, California, and his PHD in 1975 from Claremont Graduate School, Claremont, California. He authored a theory text, A Compositional Approach to Music Theory, and composed for both instruments and voice.
