 Ivan Hrusovsky

Ivan Hrusovsky; was born February 23, 1927 in Bratislava, Slovakia. His early studies were in musicology philosophy and aesthetics at Comenius University, Bratislava. He went on to study music composition at the Academy of Music and Drama in Bratislava where he later became Professor of Composition. His list of compositions is extensive. It includes orchestral suites, concertos, and two symphonies, several cantatas, and oratorios for choir and orchestra; a wide variety of music for instrumental chamber ensemble; songs for vocal soloist; numerous original compositions for choruses of all ages, plus a large number of arrangements of Slovak folk songs; and finally two works for electro-acoustic ensembles. His writings relate to the history of Slovak music, music education and music analysis, and Mozart’s period in Slo
