CoverSanctus [level: Medium]
Randall Johnson: Bio and other works | Randy and Rachel Stenson Choral Series
voicing: SATB | catalog number: SBMP 1052 | duration: 3:35 | price: $2.25
accompaniment: piano, tympani
INSTRUMENT PART: Timpani part FREE Download

Upbeat and dramatic, Sanctus features an optional timpani joining the piano to add to the rhythmic drive of this outstanding piece. The traditional text leads to aleatoric treatment of ”Praise God” in several languages, accompanied by the tenors in unison singing the “Old Hundredth” melody, that text in English:
“From all that dwell below the skies,
Let songs of hope and faith arise,
Let peace, goodwill on earth be sung,
Through every land on every tongue.” A recapitulation of the Sanctus dramatically concludes the piece.
