David Dickau: Bio and other works | Jo-Michael Scheibe Choral Series
voicing: SATB | catalog number: SBMP 953 | duration: 4:30 | price: $1.95
accompaniment: piano

Set to a poem by Canada’s beloved poet Bliss Carman, the text celebrates the beauty of nature, and the immense impact of a star-lit sky, quietly, but profoundly suggesting “how small a thing is man.” A beautiful, elegant piece.

"Profound. To experience this first live would have been incredibly moving. Strong. (What follows Is not a review, but reflection): This choice text moves me to savor, the deep as it gets truth, of how beauty, love, faith, wonder, --- can bring one home to that present place of transcendent experience, where swirled in with the reality of pain, loneliness, fear, -- (a lost in space place!?), one can reaffirm, or receive reaffirmation that good, joy, awe, mystery, sense are just as real, and supreme and ultimate foundations, for microscopic us, to claim and solidify in faith, and grace. -?-! ("May the words of my mouth and the meditations..)."
