 Craig Bohmler

Craig Bohmler(b.1956) is a composer, conductor, and pianist whose works have been performed in Europe and North America. Primarily a composer for the singing theater and the solo voice, Mr. Bohmler has four musicals and three operas to his credit as well as numerous choral works and songs. GUNMETAL BLUES has played Off-Broadway and presently has had over 50 productions in the U.S. and Canada. ACHILLES HEEL was commissioned and produced by Houston Grand Opera and subsequently was a winner in the 1995 National Opera Association Competition. ENTER THE GUARDSMAN premiered in London in 1997 at the Donmar Warehouse after having won ASCAP and Dramatist's Guild Awards, and Grand Prize in the International Musical of the Year Competition in Denmark. It had its American premiere at the New Jersey Shakespeare Festival and a subsequent off-Broadway production. Last season Mr. Bohmler's opera THE TALE OF THE NUTCRACKER had its world premiere with Opera San Jose and in October of 2000, his musical MOUNTAIN DAYS-THE LIFE OF JOHN MUIR premiered with a full orchestra and a cast of 85 at the Concord Pavilion. He is published by MMB publishers, Santa Barbara Music Publishing Samuel French, and Rogers and Hammerstein as well as recorded by Columbus, Centaur, and Original Cast, and BMS records.
