Terry J. Barham
Terry Barham, Professor Emeritus of Music and formerly Director of Choral Activities at Emporia State University (KS), earned graduate degrees from the University of Illinois (M.S.) and the University of Oklahoma (Ph. D.). He has served as guest conductor of all-state and festival choirs at the high school and junior high/middle school levels in 21 states and has presented workshops and lecture-demonstrations for ACDA state, division, and national conventions and six MENC state conventions. Barham’s most recent book, Strategies for Teaching Junior High and Middle School Male Singers--Master Teachers Speak, is well regarded by middle school and senior high choral directors and university choral methods instructors throughout the United States. He is editor of a choral music series for young developing singers published by Santa Barbara Music. Barham serves on the Editorial Board of ACDA’s Choral Journal and is also editor of ChorTeach, ACDA's online magazine for choral teachers at all levels. The Emporia State A Cappella Choir, under his direction, toured Europe seven times during his tenure. Barham is listed in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers, and Who’s Who in American Education. In 2007, he was presented the Harry Robert Wilson Award for outstanding service to the choral art by the Kansas chapter of the American Choral Director’s Association.
