 Michael S. Bryson

Dr. Michael S. Bryson (b. 1975) loves to create music that resonates with performers and listeners alike. While deriving great satisfaction from making well-crafted works of beauty, he experiences equal amounts of joy from forming community with the performers and audience.

Michael is an award-winning composer of instrumental concert works, choral music, and congregational hymns. He has written works for the South Carolina Music Teachers Association and the West Valley Youth Orchestra, among others. His music is published with Shawnee Press, Beckenhorst Press, Hope Publishing, and Lorenz, Inc.

In addition to composing, Michael runs the Bryson Music Studio that offers piano, composition, and theory instruction to students of all ages and levels. Prior to this, he served as the Music Department Chair at International Baptist College and Seminary and as the Associate Conductor of Choral Studies at Valley Christian High School.

Michael S. Bryson earned a Bachelor’s degree in piano from California State University, East Bay, a Master’s degree in church music (composition and choral conducting) from Bob Jones University, and a DMA in composition from the University of Houston's Moores School of Music. His composition teachers include Rob Smith, Marcus Maroney, Dwight Gustafson, and Joan Pinkston.

Michael and his wife Marea reside in Chandler, Arizona, and have three amazing children: Lucas, Hayleigh, and Ian.
