"I first heard this piece when the Colorado All-State Men's Choir performed it with Jerry Blackstone conducting. It was amazing to listen to and my young men in the group kept telling me we needed to perform it at our school. We finally did so this past spring and my students loved the energy and vitality of the piece. We had an exceptional drummer in our group, so we added some percussion and it was definitely a crowd-pleaser and a choir-pleaser. It gave my students a new appreciation for African music."
