I
Believe in a Seed
by Cynthia Gray
(based on a quote by Henry David Thoreau)
I do not believe a plant will spring up where no seed was sown, where no seed was sown.
I do not believe a world of love and harmony will grow where no seed was sown.
But I believe in a seed! I have great faith in a seed.
Convince me there’s a seed there and I’ll have great faith in that seed.
Convince me that you have a seed there, planted with love and care,
then I’m prepared to see great wonders blossoming ev’rywhere.
Fields of flowers far and wide! Children’s voices sing!
Love and joy and music fill the sky!
I do not believe a plant will spring up where no seed was sown, where no seed was sown.
I do not believe a world of love and harmony will grow where no seed was sown.
But I believe in a seed! I have great faith in a seed.
Convince me there’s a seed there.
I’ll have great faith. I’ll have great faith! I’ll have great faith in that seed.
Just one seed…
Quote by Henry David Thoreau (July 12, 1817 – May 6, 1862)
“Though I do not believe that a plant will spring up where no seed has been, I have great faith in a seed. Convince me that you have a seed there, and I am prepared to expect great wonders."
