"This is one of the most breathtaking harmonic and textual choral compositions ever created, in my opinion. Deeply emotive, this tragically beautiful composition expressively highlights the profound sorrow that a grieving mother possesses for the loss of a child--a loss far too early. It is truly outstanding that LaBarr creates a masterpiece so captivating that it transmits emotions, such as grief and pain, to an audience who may be unknowing of such unparalleled sentiments. Unmatched in its sentimentality, "Under the Willow" truly showcases that love is the strongest and eternal connection between ourselves and those who have passed on. Truly and highly recommended for any occasion. "

"My daughter sang with the BYU Women's Chorus when they performed this arrangement. It is one of the most tender descriptions put to music of a mother's heart ache for her child who died much too early. It draws you close to the moment and you feel as if you are there with this mother as she weeps for her child. The original tune from Stephen Foster is rather plain, but this a capella rendition is tender, slower, with feeling. Keep a tissue close by ;)"
