Matt Carlson
Matt Carlson (b. 1991) is an engaging conductor, teacher, composer, and vocalist. He is a doctoral student at the University of North Texas. He holds a master's in choral conducting from Michigan State University and a B.S. in Music Education from Gettysburg College. He led school and community choral programs in Pennsylvania for eleven years and has conducted choirs from elementary through college ages. He draws on this experience to compose works that are both musically enriching and accessible to singers of all ability levels.
His music has been commissioned by school, community, and collegiate choirs and programmed for choral festivals across the nation. His composition "The Little Creek" was featured at the 2025 ACDA National Convention, where it was performed by the fifth through seventh Grade Treble Honor Choir. A commission project with the Bumblebee Singers of the Tucson Girls Chorus (grades K-1) was a highlight of the 2022 ACDA Children's & Community Youth Choir Conductors' Retreat. Other works have been performed by all-state choirs in Georgia, Wisconsin, Virginia, Arizona, and Florida.
