Randy and Rachel Stenson

Mr. Randolph and Mrs. Rachel Stenson are the director and accompanist for the acclaimed St. Mary`s International School male Varsity Ensemble of Tokyo, Japan. The Varsity Ensemble is noted for their use of performance movement to enhance tone and expression. The Varsity Ensemble has performed at national and regional American Choral Directors Association Conventions.
The Stensons are graduates of Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota where they sang under Paul J. Christiansen and Larry L. Fleming. They have taught vocal and instrumental music in both private and public schools in North Dakota and Minnesota prior to joining the music faculty of St. Mary`s International School.
Mrs. Stenson`s current responsibilities include 5th and 6th grade general music, the upper elementary choirs, Sophomore Creative Music, and I B Music, as well as accompanying the choirs.
Mr. Stenson instructs 3rd, and 4th grade general music, lower elementary choir, Freshman Creative Music, Men`s Choir, Senior Handbell Choir, Middle School Choir and Handbells, Show Choir, Junior and Varsity Ensembles.
Their student ensembles have appeared with such diverse performers and musical organizations as Placido Domingo, Jose Carreras, John Ken Nuzzo, John Denver, Perry Como, Yuzo Kayama, Alexander Mikhalov, John Rutter, the Covent Garden, and La Scala Opera Companies. The choirs have performed for members of the Japanese Imperial Family, ambassadors, cabinet ministers, former President Ronald Reagan, were guests of the city of Amiens in France, guest artists with the Sydney Children’s Choir, Fukushima International Music Festival, and were the subject of a documentary program for Chinese national television.
